Jan Hamilton nee Lacey studied at the Chester School and the Laird School of Art at Birkenhead in the late nineteen sixties early seventies securing a place to specialize in Graphics at Preston Polytechnic. After a brief career and bringing up a family Jan returned to painting in the early nineteen nineties. Jan specialises in Portraiture in pastel, oil, watercolour and mixed media and has won prizes internationally as well as in the U.K Jan was accepted as an exhibiting member of The Portrait Artists of Australia in Sydney in 2002 and Farnham Art Society in 1995. Jan sells her work mainly through commissions selling as far a field as Australia. Jan is constantly striving to become what she believes to be a true painter as opposed to commercially developing a technique. She has been privileged over the many years to have studied with many eminent artists on both sides of the world. She works closely and under the instruction of the Master Painter Ken Paine. |
